Scripture: John 13: 34 - 35

“Expression of Family Relationship”

The church consists of families- husbands and fathers, wives and mothers sons and daughters. It is vital that families be strong so that the local church may be strong and vibrant.

Both parents and children have a responsibility to the home. The parents must care for, train, and discipline their children without exasperating or discouraging them. The children are obligated to obey, honor, and respect their parents. It is important to elevate the value of the family today and appreciate its worth. Sadly, our culture often belittles parents who choose to have children and follow God given principles of child rearing and discipline.

Parents should not cave to societal pressure to conform to worldly ideas, but they should resolutely follow Biblical principles even in the face of adversity and ridicule.

When we follow God’s plan, children contribute to the joy and peace of the home- perhaps more to the joy then the peace.  Children are important to God and to the home and they should have security throughout this childhood.  They are our heritage-the heritage of the Lord!

The home should provide an atmosphere where members of the family can learn Christian values. This environment should be free of outside worldly influence.

In order to enhance the worship atmosphere of the home, the family should practice regular devotions.  They will aid in the spiritual growth of every member of the family and insure the success of the family.
