“Youth Remembering God”
The Blessings of Children
“Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his
reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the
youth” (Psalm 127:3-4).
Children are a blessing, here are several reasons.
First of all, they teach us the value of human life. God has placed great
value on human life. The psalmist David made clear God’s view of life in the
womb. Read Psalm 139:13-16.
Second, then there is joy! There is nothing that brings joy to a couple like
children. Parents share their joy with everyone who will listen when a new child
is born. And the smiles that come to people’s faces when they see a newborn baby
at church, the mall, or at the park is evidence that total strangers share the
joy of the parents.
Third, children are our example! Yes, for Matthew 18:3 says, “And said,
Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children,
ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven”.
There are many qualities we can observe in children that should motivate us
to be more like children. Children are quick to love and slow to hate. They
quickly forgive and forget. Oh, that adults would be as quick to forgive so
completely! Children are outstanding examples of true humanity, genuine trust,
faith, and forgiveness. Yes, children are a blessing from God, God’s heritage.
