Jimmie Deas - Pastor

Jimmie Deas - Pastor

Jimmie is originally from Florence, South Carolina where he graduated from Wilson Senior High School. He Graduated from South Carolina State University (formerly South Carolina State College) in 1971 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He is also a graduate of the General Motors and General Electric Management Programs and earned a Teacher Certificate from the Evangelical Teacher Training Association Certificate Program. Jimmie has completed the three year program at the J. D. Williams Bible Institute operated by the National Education Department of the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc.

Jimmie repented of his sins and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at the age of eleven. He received the gift of the Holy Ghost shortly afterward. Since then, he has served in many capacities including Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Regional Youth Director, and was ordained a Deacon in 1979. He was later ordained Elder as a result of the call of God upon his life. He became Pastor of the local assembly here in Florence in January 1992.

Married to Ida, from Mullins, South Carolina. Jimmie and Ida have four children: Jimmie Jr, Terrence, Christopher, and Bryan.

Diane Williamson - Church Secretary

Diane is originally from Society Hill, SC where she graduated from Rosenwald High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1973. She graduated from Florence-Darlington Technical College in 1976 with an Associate degree in Business in Data Processing Technology. Diane has been employed with Nucor Steel for the past 25 years.

Diane was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost in 1975 at the Progressive Church in Hartsville, SC.  She is the daughter of Sister Josephine Williamson and the late George Willard Williamson.

By the grace of God, at this time in Diane’s life she can truly say that she is living the life she loves and she loves the life she is living in Jesus.

Deacon Thomas Deas Jr. - Acting Sunday School Superintendent and Finance Officer

Deacon Thomas Deas Jr.

Thomas Deas Jr. was born and raised in Florence, SC where he attended public school. The eldest son of Dea. Thomas Deas, Sr. and Sis. Uneedia E. Deas, he serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Thomas retired in June 1994 from Vulcraft, Inc. after over 32 years of dedicated service. He currently works part-time at Clanton Auto Sales.

Thomas was baptized on July 25, 1971 and ordained as Deacon on September 22, 1979. In addition to the finance committee, he also serves as a Sunday School and Brotherhood teacher as well as assists the conductors.

He is blessed to be married to Annie Brown Deas for nearly 40 years. They have three adult children: Barbara A. Richardson, Thomas Deas, III and Sonya D. Hunter. They also have seven beautiful grand-children.

Betty Montgomery - President of Women's Auxiliary

Betty Montgomery

Sister Montgomery was born in Florence, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Sis. Janie Bell Muldrow and a graduate of the 1967 class of Wilson High School in Florence.  She is employed by the McLeod Medical Hospital.
 
She is a "Born Again Soldier" who was baptized in the Name Of Jesus in 1961.  She received the Holy Ghost at the age of twelve.
 
Sister Montgomery served as Secretary of the Women's Auxiliary for thirty two years and also co-chairman of the program committee. She sings in the Senior Choir and also manages the group "Sisters In Christ" as they travel to different assemblies singing praises to God.  Her hobbies are reading, listening to gospel music and singing praises unto God under His anointing.
 
Betty has been married to Brother Fred Montgomery for thirty-five years.  They have three beautiful children, Wanda, Frerita and Gregory.  They also have three lovely grand-sons.
 
"Today  I can truly say, I'm Saved, Happy and Enjoy working for Jesus!"

Herbert Deas - Youth Director

Herbert DeasBrother Herbert Deas Is From Florence, South Carolina where he graduated from McClenaghan High School.  Herbert spent several years as a Sales Manager for Sears in Florence. After preparing to take some classes at Florence Darlington Tec. Herbert is now employed by Honda in Timmonsville, S.C. He is also a mentor for Honda at one of the elementary schools in Timmonsville, S.C. 
 
Herbert has also earned a certificate of completion from the National Sunday School Teacher Training Program of the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc. He has served in many capacities including Usher, President of the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Youth President and National Youth Officer.
 
Herbert is married to Cynthia (Smoot) Deas from Florence, South Carolina. They have four lovely children: Victoria, Herbert II, Brandon, and Sierrie.

Connie Robinson - Youth Coordinator

Connie Lashaun Robinson

Connie Lashaun Robinson has been a member of Progressive Church as long as she can remember. She recalls singing in the "Gospel Youth Choir" at the age of seven. At the age of eight she received the Precious Gift of the Holy Ghost, and since that day has been working in the service of our Lord. In addition to her position as Youth Coordinator, she is a member of the choir and also the church announcer.

Connie thanks God for blessing her this past year as she completed all educational requirements necessary to be a Registered Nurse. Typical of Connie is her comment, "Thanks be unto God for giving me the mind to want to serve him in every way that I can. All power and Glory Be Unto the Lord Jesus Christ for shaping me to be who and what I am today!"

Michael Mack - President of the Brotherhood

Michael Mack

Michael was raised in Darlington, South Carolina. After graduating from Mayo High School, Michael went on to serve in the Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1979. After his tour with the Navy, Michael continued his education at the Florence-Darlington Technical College. He is presently employed at Superior Machine Co. working in Supervision.

Michael has been a member of The Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ since 1980, and was ordained as a Deacon in 1994. In addition to his current ministry as President of The Brotherhood, he teaches Sunday School and works as a volunteer at the Palmer Release Center.

Michael is married to Marie Mack. They have two children, Travis and Shanda.

Jean Harrison - Choir Director

Jean HarrisonJean, our adult choir directress was born in Florence, South Carolina. She attended South Florence High School, and Florence-Darlington Technical College. She is employed at McLeod Regional Hospital in the medical field. She always had a love for music and singing from a child. At the age of twelve, she joined the choir and has been a member every since. She had two years of piano lessons. She's married to Harry L. Harrison Sr. They have three children: Keith, Harry Jr., and Anthony. Her hobbies are reading, listening to gospel music, and spending quality time with her family.

Mary L. Deas - Membership Secretary and Public Relations

Mary Deas

Mary was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina. She has been a member of this local assembly since 1960, after being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. She graduated from Wilson Senior High School in 1969, and continued her education at Florence-Darlington Technical College and Poyner Adult Center. She has received her Certificate in Ward-Clerk Secretary and Nursing Assistant.

Presently she is employed in the Medical Field at the McLeod Regional Medical Center. Mary is married to Sammie J. Deas, Sr. To this union the Lord blessed them with three wonderful children, Tonia, Sammie Jr, and Pamela.

Her hobbies are reading, making crafts, and baking cakes. "It gives me joy just knowing who Jesus is. I am thankful for being saved and in the Truth. God has been so good to me and for this I am so grateful. I enjoy working in the Church as well as helping others in whatever I can do for them. I am truly blessed."
